HHIVE members were recently rewarded with a $5,000 Undergraduate Research Consultant Teams (URCT) grant. The grant called for students across multiple disciplines to be headed under a faculty advisor to create a one-semester project that would benefit society and the students involved.

The Writing Diabetes studies, conducted by Dr. Jordynn Jack, previously found that diabetes patients referred to diabetes as not only a medical problem, but a crisis of body image with emotional and psychological effects. The URCT funded study will focus on using dance as a therapy for diabetes patients to address these issues.

Recruitment for individuals wishing to participate in the study will begin in January.
